“You can have a facial treatment every week!” And most will be in shock and awed. Why is this statement very surprising? Well it’s because we were made to believe that a facial care must be done once a month; that it may be bad for the skin or it could cost acne and it’s just too expensive. (Believe me the latter one is the most common reason) But let us analyse our daily routine. Every day we take a bath (hopefully) and clean our face with soap, liquid cleanser, and/or scrub. Then we apply a toner followed by a serum or moisturizer and finally a sunblock. This is just the morning ritual, and on the night we basically do the same routine again. All this process is to have one goal to keep our skin young and clean. But is this enough?
Let us analyse what the products do to our skin.
First the soap or cleanser, these products main goal is to strip away oil and environmental dirt or even dead skin from our face.
Second toners, further strip away our skin oil and tightens the pores of our face.
Third is the serum which transfers any nutrients available on the serum to the skin.
Fourth are the moisturizer which create a barrier to prevent the evaporation of water from the skin, also it adds a layer of protection from dirt.
Take note moisturizer doesn’t add moisture in your skin, it just maintains whatever moisture is already present. And lastly are the sun blocks and makeups which are like skin garnish enhancing or adding more beauty into it.
Now, that entire regimen done regularly could lead to one thing. Over exposure of the skin! Facial is like a skin detox, allowing our skin to relax and just be nude. Most of the time I recommend my clients to clean their face with just water especially if they didn’t have much outdoor activities or exposure to make-ups. Bare skin or nude skin could help in long term skin anti-aging process. Remember most of the products still have chemicals on them. Second block pores like black head or white heads could only be remove my mechanical extraction like diamond peel or dermal infusion and chemical extraction like glycolic peel or salicylic peel (discuss on the next issue). These procedures are done professionally so you have to go to a reputable clinic or spa with a well trained staff. And lastly someone should monitor and maintain your skin condition.
We live in an era where survival is not anymore the main concern; QUALITY OF LIFE is now the most important factor for everyone. Having a quality life is not just having a fancy car or big houses or good food; a perfect and well maintained skin is also part of the list.
